A restaurant at 4:55pm, five minutes before doors: chairs coming down, a last wipe of the bar, someone tasting the special. That five minutes says more about the place than an hour of polished b-roll ever could.

When I shoot spaces — hotels, restaurants, studios, shops — I treat them like characters, not backdrops. Every place has a pulse: a rhythm of light, sound and small rituals that regulars feel but can't name. The camera's job is to find it.

What that looks like in practice

It means shooting during service, not just before it. Letting real staff and real customers be in the frame. Chasing the hour when the light does the thing it only does in your space. It takes a little longer, and it's worth it every single time.
